Neck River North – Stone and Tree Work at Nortontown Road

September 28, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Our primary goal today is to add a couple of big stepping stones to an existing river crossing. This will connect our Neck River North trail to the Blinnshed Ridge and Neck River Trails managed by the Madison Land Trust. As a secondary effort, we need to cut up some deadfalls on the trails. So we need a chainsaw or two, and a number of people with pry-bars or crowbars who can roll rocks and don’t mind getting their feet a bit wet. We’ll have a saw, a couple of dynamite and crow bars, but please bring along a pair of heavy gloves and water proof (and fairly high) boots, if you have them. Please meet us at the Neck River North trail entrance, just north of house number 725 and south of the intersection with Squaw Lane. [est 2 to 2-1/2 hours]

Heavy rain will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
