Boardwalk Construction on Westwoods Red Triangle Trail

November 30, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Back in 2017, WWTC member Ellsworth Matthias directed the efforts to rebuild a crumbling section of the Red Rectangle Trail, just south of the (former) Eversource power lines. While this work remains in good shape, the elevated section to the east has greatly deteriorated, and we plan to bridge this area on this work party. We expect to bring the materials close to the site via the wood roads the Blue Rectangle and Yellow Triangle follow. But we’ll need to hand carry them down the foot trails. So we’ll need help with both the construction, as well as the hauling effort. WE NEED A GREAT DEAL OF HELP TO GET THIS WORK COMPLETED IN A SINGLE DAY! So please, consider joining us … even for only a couple of hours. There will be plenty of work: hauling, trail clearing, chainsawing and basic carpentry. We’ll have lots of tools, but please bring your own, if possible. Plan to meet us at the Lower Dunk Rock Road entrance at 10AM, just across from the Raspberry field parking lot. [est 4 to 5 hours]

Rain or significant snow will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
