Plankwalk Maintenance and Invasive Rose Removal

Our May work party didn’t get this job completed so we’re continuing that effort, now concentrating on the southern end of the plank walk. Identified are several sections where piling are sinking, so we expect to be lifting planks and adding support to the pilings. if we have enough people, we also hope to start pulling invasive rose plants from the sides of the walk … an infestation recently found, and we’d like to remove this unwanted growth before it ‘jumps the great swamp’ and establishes itself in the heart of Westwoods. We’ll have the basic tools and materials for rebuilding sections of the plank walk, but extra hammers and prybars will be useful, so please bring them along. If you’d like to help with the rose (which we’re trying to pull out rather than cut), please thick gloves and a good pair of boots to keep your feet dry.
