Installing Plastic Sheeting for Occultation at Spencer’s Creek
The plastic we put down last spring appears to have done a good job in pushing back on the mugwort. So today we will be shifting these sheets (or what can be salvaged from them) to a nearby location to continue this work, and seeding the uncovered area with native grass seed. We invite you to come and help us lay and secure the plastic sheets … it’s a multi person job, especially if there’s a little wind, and many bricks and wood timbers need to be placed to secure the sheeting. Good gloves and work boots are all that you’ll need to bring. Please meet us at the property on Three Mile Course, just slightly south of the Medad Stone tavern. If there’s not enough room to pull off the road, you can park up the road at the Cox School. [est 2 hours] Rain Date: 11th of May @ 10AM.
Heavy rain will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
