Brushing and Moving Cedar Logs at Spencers Creek

A work party in November cut down a number of red cedars on the Sunset Creek meadow. The branches were all trimmed from the trunks, but many branches and all the trunks need to be removed from the field. This morning we’ll be hauling branches to a chipping pile near the street, and transporting all the trunks over to our wood storage area at the Spencer’s Creek gate. Good gloves and work boots are all that you’ll need to bring. If you’d like to help, please meet at the Sunset Creek Road cut-de-sac (the road is directly across from the Cox School entrance on Three Mile Course). There’s plenty of parking at the cut-de-sac, and more along the road. [est 2 – 2-1/2 hours]

Rain or significant snow will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
