East River Preserve – Beech Leaf Disease – Field Identification and Discussion

May 28, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Dr. Bob Marra of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, will be leading a field trip to educate us about this disease. Recently found in Connecticut, not a lot is know about this organism and the disease that it causes … including knowledge as to how it spreads, where it currently is in Connecticut and how it might be treated. Dr. Marra has identified an area of infestation that’s fairly close to the trailhead, and we’ll learn to identify symptoms, and how to best respond when we encounter other occurrences of the disease. Parking is limited at this trail entrance, so please car pool, and consider parking at Duck Hole Road (just north of the trail entrance) and walking down to the trail head. [est 2 – 2 -1/2 hours]
