Bears in Guilford

The bears are back in Guilford this summer! We should all be used to this by now but let’s remember the following basics when hiking:

LEASH YOUR DOGS (in addition to ruining egg masses, destroying bird and turtle nests, scaring or injuring other hikers, etc, a dog off-leash could startle a bear, or worse, a mama bear with cubs).

MAKE SOME NOISE, we won’t judge your singing.

BACK AWAY SLOWLY if you encounter a bear.
