Loop 4 Trail Work at Westwoods Three Corners Road

Our inspection of Loop 4 on the 15th uncovered a number of issues we plan to address on two of this month’s work parties. Today, we’ll be (1) reestablishing four sections of trails (mostly places where the original trail wasn’t well marked and hikers have created multiple paths) and (2) relocating a wet section to a dryer ground nearby. We’ll also (3) Blaze three side-trails (two with White Square blazes, and the third as a White/Blue cross trail), (4) clear a short section of ’stepping stone’ trail that’s obstructed and (5) move a ‘Trail Closed’ sign to a more visible spot. If time permits, we’ll (6) flag a heavily eroded section of the White Circle for relocation on our follow-up workparty. So there’s much to do and we ask you come prepared with the tools of your particular trade. For the trail relocation (which is most of the work), we’ll need a couple of chainsaws, and a lopper or two. Paul will have one saw, and the post hammer we’ll need for moving the sign. He’ll also bring the blaze materials and nails. Dress for early spring conditions, and expect it to be a bit muddy. Plan to meet at the Three Corners Road Entrance to Westwoods. When you park, be careful not to obstruct any of the driveways. [est 2 – 3 hours]
