Dunk Rock Rd
Guilford, CT 06437
Back in February we evaluated this perennially wet area and decided that come spring we’d muster our resources and tackle this big job. In addition to the board walk, we have significant trail rerouting to accomplish so we can take the trail off an especially steep section. Although some existing logs and wood are planned to be used for some of this work, about 70ft of bridging material will need to be hauled into the site. Luckily, we can bring most of this in by tractor along the abandoned sections of Dunk Rock Road. WE NEED A GREAT DEAL OF HELP TO GET THIS WORK COMPLETED IN A SINGLE DAY! So please, consider joining us … even for only a couple of hours. There will be plenty of work spanning from hauling and trail clearing to chainsawing and basic carpentry. We’ll have lots of tools, but please bring your own, if possible. Plan to meet us at the Lower Dunk Rock Road entrance at 9AM, just across from the Raspberry field parking lot. [est 6 to 8 hours]
If you have high waterproof boots and are willing to step into the marsh please bring your boots. Much wet work needs to be done.
Rain will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact Rob Valley at email@example.com or Paul Proulx firstname.lastname@example.org on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
