Eastwoods Trail Work – East Bearhouse Hill Road Entrance
Eastwoods-South property steward Ryan McEvoy reports a number if trail issues in his property report and we expect to address them all at this work party. He noted muddy sections on both the Yellow and Green trails, and we plan to evaluate these and add corduroy as needed. There is also an unmarked woods road that he recommends blazing and adding to the trail network. We plan to evaluate this, and either add as a cross-trail, or possibly close down the rocky/difficult/wet northern section of the Green completely. If time permits, we will also re-blaze the Blue Square trail with new blazes. We’ll have blaze & sign materials, but need one or two chainsaws and hand tools (a pick or mattock, splitting maul, etc.) to fashion corduroy from deadfalls in the area. It’s almost summer, so dress accordingly and meet at 10AM at the East Bearhouse Hill Road entrance to Eastwoods. [est 2 to 3 hours]
Heavy rain will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
