DESCRIPTION:Come hike a 3+ mile loop trail past beautiful streams\, vernal pools and through mature woods in celebration of National Trails Day. GLCT board member and Appalachian Mountain Club hike leader Janet Ainsworth will lead you on this adventure. There are some steep climbs\, but the hike is generally moderate. Co-listed with AMC. SUMMARY:Rebuilding Water Crossings - Sam Hill Road
DESCRIPTION:Last month we successfully installed stepping stones on a water crossing\, and with what we’ve learned we plan to do similar work on ‘problem’ areas of the White Circle and Green Circle trails.  We may again use stones for this\, but will be prepared to use available slabs of wood if that can be made to work.  We will have a small collection of pry-bars and levers with us\, but please bring any tool you have which could be helpful\, along with good work gloves and strong boots.   Paul will bring his chainsaw.  Please meet us at the Sam Hill Entrance to Westwoods.  [est 2-1/2  – 3 hours] \nHeavy rain will usually cancel any of these work parties\, so if you have questions about the schedule\, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. SUMMARY:Plankwalk Maintenance - Peddlers Road
DESCRIPTION:We didn’t get a big turn-out for last month’s plank walk workparty\, so we’re hoping more people come out today so we can complete the repairs on two ‘soft’ sections of this venerable walkway.  We expect to  use the materials we’ve stockpiled on the northern end of the walk for this work\, so there won’t be anything (except tools) to haul down from the parking area.  We’ll bring the basic tools for the work\, but extra hammers and prybars will be useful.  Please meet us at the Peddlers Road trail entrance @ 10AM.
