Loop 12 Trail Work – Westwoods: Lower Moose Hill Road Entrance
We walked this Loop at the end of March and found connecting trails that need blazing (Yellow/Yellow Cross and Yellow Diamond) and an unauthorized trail needs to be permanently closed, There’s a large (about 20ft) and several smaller muddy section of the Yellow Square that needs corduroy. And a short reroute of the Yellow Circle to eliminate a very steep and eroded section of trail. Paul will bring the blaze materials and nails as well as a chainsaw. We’ll need at least one more saw and hand tools (axe or splitting maul) to fashion corduroy from deadfalls in the area. If you’d like to help, dress for early spring weather and have decent boots. Plan to meet us at the lower Moose Hill Road entrance to Westwoods, just across from Landon’s Way. Use street parking on Landon’s Way if it’s too crowded. [est. 2 – 3 hours]
Heavy rain will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
