Moving and Installing a Granite Bench at Spencer’s Creek
We’re replacing the 14 year old wooden bench at Spencer’s Creek with a more permanent one made from stone, and today we’ll be moving it from the street to the river overlook (about 1200ft) and installing it in its final location. This is serious heavy lifting, and we need as many strong arms as we can muster to move the 365 lb top and twin 125 lb legs to their final destination. That being said, with many hands, we expect the work to go quickly. So please come and help, with good gloves and work boots are all that you’ll need to bring. Please meet us at the property on Three Mile Course, just slightly south of the Medad Stone tavern. If there’s not enough room to pull off the road, you can park up the road at the Cox School. [est 2 to 2-1/2 hours]
Heavy rain will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me stewardship@guilfordlandtrust.org or Paul Proulx pauljproulx@comcast.net on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
