Come and join members of the land trust support the United Way Days of Caring program in enhancing one of the trust’s prize pieces of land. The Jared Eliot Preserve is a 54 acre parcel of land with fields, forests, trails, and salt marshes bordering on the West River in Guilford. The trust is actively engaged in reducing the invasive plants that have overrun parts of the property. The current project is a small one with immediate gains. There are several clumps of good trees on the edge of a large field that have been overrun with bittersweet vine, multiflora roses, and autumn olives. Come with boots and gloves and loppers or saws if you have them. Excellent opportunity to learn how to remove invasive plants.
Directions: Follow Route 146 in Guilford to Mulberry Point Road. Just after crossing railroad tracks, take the first left onto Mulberry Farms Rd. Pass one driveway and then follow the road around to the left for parking.
