On Saturday August 21st, a field trip lead by Lenny Brown from the Connecticut Butterfly Association toured sites in Guilford including the Jared Elliot and Spencer Creek Preserves owned by the land trust. Below is a list of the species sighted on these preserves:

It was reported that the highlight of the day was sight of the Tawny Emperor (Asterocampa clyton), which while it isn’t currently on the CT DEP Endangered, Threatened and SpecialĀ  Concern Species list, is a CT species of special conservation concern that is being monitored by state entomologists.
