The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) owns 3,225 acres in Guilford including the Genesee Recreation Area. The Genesee Recreation Area begins in Madison but the trails extend into Guilford winding through watershed lands along the site of the “Little Genesee Settlement.” The area connects with trails in Northwoods and Cockaponset State Forest.
While RWA lands are not permanently protected open space, they are watershed protection lands open to permit holders only.
