Cockaponset State Forest contains overĀ 16,000 acres with parcels located in 11 towns. In Guilford, there is an approximately 384 acre section of Cockaponset located north of Route 80, sometimes referred to as the Old Archery Range. Parking is available in a lot on Route 80, access to the Timberlands Preserve is also possible from this location.
Sections of Westwoods are also part of Cockaponset State Forest but all trails in Westwoods are managed by GLCT.
Please be aware that hunting is permitted within Cockaponset State Forest.
